Invisalign: Straighten Your Teeth In Weeks
Invisalign aligners are based on an innovative technology that allows patients with misaligned front teeth to improve their smiles in as little as six weeks.
These aligners are removable appliances that look similar to traditional orthodontic retainers, although they apply force to the teeth to move them, rather than just holding teeth in the correct position as retainers do.
As with other aligners, Invisalign aligners can be removed at mealtime and for oral hygiene practices. They should be worn 16-20 hours a day. The patient comes to the office for the initial fitting of the aligner and then every 2-3 weeks throughout treatment for ongoing checks.
Candidates For Orthodontic Aligners
When they were first introduced, clear braces were somewhat limited in the types of cases in which they could be used. They were unlikely to be effective in cases of severe crowding, for example.
However, technology has improved dramatically since then. Now, clear braces can straighten smiles affected by a variety of misalignment issues.
The pool of prospective patients for Invisalign aligners is somewhat smaller, as this technique is designed to treat a particular problem – misaligned teeth at the front of the smile. In cases where that is the primary concern, however, Invisalign aligners can be highly effective and efficient.
We encourage you to schedule an evaluation at our office to determine whether clear braces of some type can help you to achieve your smile goals.
